Movie - DEPATURE IN THE ARCTIC SEA - FRESHCATCH IN THE ARCTIC SEA
In the Bering Sea between Alaska and the Russian continent the Cold War is still raging: the battle is on for the rich fish stocks in one of the most unique ecosystems which are rightly called the sub-Arctic Serengeti. But its fish reserves are in great danger. The film reveals the dramatic consequences of both Russian and American fishing for the Inuit Eskimos in this region. Old traditions are falling into oblivion and the main basis for their lifestyle and diet has already been almost completely taken away from them - one of the oldest cultures in Alaska could soon become the next victim of commercial fishing in the Bering Sea.
