Honour of Ekotopfilm

Within the frameworks of the XXV. Anniversary of the festival (1998) the Festival Committee made a decision to award "HONOUR OF EKOTOPFILM". According to the provisions and regulations this tribute shall be awarded to an outstanding domestic or foreign personality for his or her efforts achieving sustainable development, scientific inventions, humane and cultural activities or a lifework in favour of the development of humankind. It is the Festival Committee to make the decision based on the suggestions of the professional guarantors or other institutions.

	Ingvar Kamprad (2010) founder of furniture retail chain IKEA, famous not only for his sense of thrift, remarkable business visions but also social sensitivities. He is the chairman of the INGKA Foundation. In his philanthropic activities, the company IKEA focuses on three main areas: the environment (particularly forest and rain forest preservation); projects aimed at preventing child labor and initiatives to promote education, and development of children.
	Yann Arthus-Bertrand (2009) He then founded GoodPlanet, a non-profit organisation that aims to create awareness with the public of environmental issues, and to develop concrete solutions to move towards a more sustainable way of life - one that is more respectful of our planet and its inhabitants.
	Eva Siracká DrSc. (2008) the president of the League against Cancer was awarded the Honor of ekotopfilm for her devoted and dedicated work and public education she has been doing for many years in order to fight this malicious disease and rise public awareness.
	Martin Strel (2007) Slovenian professional marathon swimmer, swims mainly for the conservation of our Planet Earth, clean rivers and water, and friendship. He was the first man to swim along the Amazon River and has several Guinness records.
	His Majesty Prince Albert II. (2006) is the head of a foundation for his personal involvement in environment conservation and sustainable development. His north pole expedition has poited out negative consequences of global warming.
	Nicole a Serge Roetheli (2005) Swiss married couple has spent five years running across five continents logging up a distance around 40,000 km. The aim of their feat was to raise awareness of childrens rights.
	Juraj Hraško (2004) distinguished pedologist, academic of the Slovak academy of Science, exminister of Ministry of Environment and ambassador of Slovak Republic in Switzerland. In the 90´s Chairman of the International Jury of Ekotopfilm and later chairman of Festival Committee.
	Václav Havel (2003) expresident of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic, expresident of the Czech Republic has received Honour of Ekotopfilm in person during the preview of the awarded films in Prague held on 18th of November 2003 at the outstanding representatives of culture and social life.
	Günter Verheugen (2002) member of the European Commission for Enlargement. The negotiations with new candidates for the years 2003 are in progress.
	Al Gore (2001) ex-vice-president of the USA.
	Svend Auken (2000) minister of environment of Denmark.
	Colonel Ing. Ivan Bella (1999) the first Slovak pilot-astronaut.
	Jacques Yves Cousteau (1998) The first people to receive this award were an outstanding French scientist, well-known conservationist and discoverer of the submarine "world of silence" and author of more than hundreds of documentaries.
