HONOUR OF EKOTOPFILM AWARD LAUREATES
Since 1998, festival’s silver jubilee, the Honour of Ekotopfilm award is presented annually. According to reglement, the award is designed to evaluate the major domestic and foreign personalities for outstanding services achieved in sustainable development, for major breakthroughs, human or cultural activities, or for lifetime achievement, for the development of human society. The proposal to award someone may be submitted by domestic and foreign individuals and organizations. The evaluation, selection and nomination of candidates is within the competence of the Festival Committee.

Sea Shepherd (2018)
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization established in 1977. Its mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.

Polly Higgins (2017)
International lawyer, UK based barrister, award-winning author and lead Ecocide law expert. Her proposal to expand the remit of the International Criminal Court to include Ecocide as an international crime will ensure global governance and protection against some of the most egregious crimes, namely State and corporate crime that causes or fails to prevent climate disasters as well as other ecological catastrophes.

Dr. Jane Goodall (2016)
Renowned primatologist, activist, founder of the Roots&Shoots global program for youth. The contribution and work of Dr. Goodall is appreciated worldwide. Jane holds a number of honorary awards, The Legion of Honour in France, a prestigious Japanese award Kyoto Prize. She’s the UN Messenger of Peace and in 2003 was appointed as a lady of the British Empire.

Janina Ochojska

Janina Ochojska (2015)
Founder and President of the Foundation Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH ). Founder and coordinator of humanitarian missions in Bosnia, Kosovo, Chechnya, Sarajevo, Iraq and many foreign countries in need. Since the establishment of the Foundation she develops and promotes PAH, while constantly working actively in the field.

Vladimir Krcmery

Vladimír Krčméry (2014)
Academic, oncologist , professor, dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Work, Trnava University. He built a private College of Health and Social Care St. Elizabeth. He established with his colleagues not only humanitarian but also scientific and educational projects.

Felix Finkbeiner

Felix Finkbeiner (2013)
15-year-old boy from Munich, founder of The Foundation Plant for the Planet. Today there are more than 100 thousand children involved in this project, which to date has managed to plant more than 12 billion trees. From a small school homework it has become a global movement with representation in the UN.

Pavol Barabas

Pavol Barabáš (2012)
Author of the wide range of mountain and adventure films. Seeking stories in which one gets beyond their limits. Attracted to Tibetan Buddhism area, the natives buried deep in the unexplored jungle, wild mountain rafting and hikes one the highest mountains of the planet. He has led several discovery expeditions.

Allison Argo

Allison Argo (2011)
Producer, director and filmmaker for 20 years. Her natural history documentary work has been awarded numerous prizes, including six national Emmy Awards. She has worked with National Geographic. Currently she’s working with PBS Nature. In her work she wants to “offer a voice to those who can not speak for themselves”.

President of the League Against Cancer, received the award for her dedicated work and educational activities, in which she has tried for years to combat this insidious disease to bring wider awareness.

Martin Strel

Slovenian ultramarathon swimmer who perform to promote the message of protecting our planet and the message of clean rivers, clean water and friendship. The first person to swam the Amazon. He has several entries in the Guinness Book of Records .

Juraj Hrasko

Significant pedologist, academician of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, ex – Minister of the Environment and Slovak Ambassador in Switzerland. In the 90s the President of the International Jury of the Festival and later chairman of the Festival Committee.

Former President of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, former President of the Czech Republic, personally accepted the award in Prague on November 18, 2003 during the festival event attended by important representatives of cultural and social life.
